I just finished my first week of cosmetology school and it was so awesome! I got all of my supplies for school in one awesome kit, and we jumped right in to learning hair sectioning. My homework on the second day was to go home and do a 16-part Zulu not sectioning on my manikin.
The next day we took out the knots and had free reign to style out manikins however we’d like! I had some trouble making something out of the knotted mess that the wet set made, but it was very similar to pincurls, so I was able to make a vintage poodle hairstyle.
Later on in the week we learned how to wash our manikins and give them a smooth, straight blow dry. The goal was to essentially flatten the hair and avoid any puffiness or frizz. I thought my blow dry was a success!
School has only just started, and I’m already so excited for the path ahead. I’m going to learn so many awesome things at this school, especially since my teacher, Mrs. Kim, is super nice and fun. It’ll be very interesting to see where this adventure takes me next.
